Playing a cozy game on the Nintendo Switch is one of my absolute favorite things to do!
And while cozy games have kind of become synonymous with games for girls, personally, I think anyone can enjoy them!
But what makes a video game a “cozy game?”
Currently, there is no official definition for what makes a game cozy. It’s truly defined by each individual person, but typically, a cozy game is wholesome, cute, and relaxing for the player.
For this ultimate list of must-play cozy switch games, I’ve included all types of cozy games (farming sims, life sims, visual novels, crafting, platformers, co-ops, etc.) in a variety of genres (adventure, simulation, indie, puzzle, RPG, etc.) so you’re sure to find a new favorite!

Disney Dreamlight Valley
Game Description: Disney Dreamlight Valley is a hybrid between a life-sim and an adventure game rich with quests, exploration, and engaging activities featuring Disney and Pixar friends, both old and new.
Why We Like It: This is such a fun game to play with the entire family! New Disney characters (Stitch, Vanellope, Mirabel, etc.) are being added ALL THE TIME. The main storyline is honestly kind of dark, but the rest of the lighthearted gameplay makes up for it!

Game Description: Ooblets is a relaxing and offbeat farming, town life, and creature collection game. Manage your farm, grow and train your ooblets, explore strange lands, and have dance-offs!
Why We Like It: Ooblets is seriously underrated! It’s crazy how many people are sleeping on this game. This is one of those games that will keep you up until 4 in the morning because you can’t stop playing.

Coffee Talk
Game Description: Coffee Talk is a coffee brewing and heart-to-heart talking simulator about listening to fantasy-inspired modern peoples’ problems, and helping them by serving up a warm drink or two.
Why We Like It: The story-telling is engaging and the pixel art is gorgeous. One of the coziest games ever.

Game Description: Hop off the train and into your new life in the village of Hokko! Take over the old workshop and get creative; use crafted materials and design everything in town! With complete creative freedom, what type of town will you build?

Game Description: House Flipper is a unique chance to become a one-man renovation crew. Buy, repair, and remodel devastated houses. Give them a second life and sell them at a profit!
Why We Like It: This is one of those games that’s perfect to play while watching Youtube videos or listening to a podcast. It’s relaxing but also gives you a feeling of accomplishment every time you remodel a house. Oh, and it also has some great DLC.

Stardew Valley
Game Description: You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home?
Why We Like It: At this point, Stardew is a classic. It was really the beginning of the cozy game era that we’re in now. It’s the ultimate feel-good game that has major replayability.

Game Description: Hoa is a beautiful puzzle-platforming game that features breathtaking hand-painted art, lovely music, and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.

Game Description: Calico is a day-in-the-life community sim game where you are given an important and adorable task: rebuild the town’s cat café and fill it with cute and cuddly creatures! Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Game Description: Escape to a deserted island and create your own paradise as you explore, create, and customize in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game. Why We Like It: Animal Crossing is for the creatives and the collectors. You can let your imagination run wild and design your island however you would like, while collecting all the various critters on the island throughout the seasons (in real time!)
The Happy Home Paradise DLC is the true star of the show. It expanded the gameplay in the best way possible for those of us who love the design and decorating aspect of the game.

Why We Like It: If you enjoyed the old management-style sim games like Zoo Tycoon, this is a great way to scratch that itch. They frequently release DLC and put out updates that keep us coming back!
