I won’t bore you with all the details of every single game (or give any spoilers!) But if you do want to know more about a game, just click the check it out button.
Please let me know in the comments if you agree or disagree with this list. Or even tell me your top 8 cozy games, I’d love to know what they are!
1
Palia
I’m genuinely obsessed with this game. And the fact that this game is FREE?! Incredible. Amazing. It’s a total must-play.
The graphics are cute. The stories are fun and interesting. And the crafting is very well-balanced.
It’s also one of the best decorating games out there right now. The controls are very fluid and intuitive. It’s easy to change stuff around whenever you want. It doesn’t feel like a chore, as it does in other games!😅
p.s. if you decide to play and need any help making money or gifting as a new player, I’ve created guides for that!
2
The Sims
I never thought of The Sims as a cozy game until recently, but it totally is! Honestly, it’s one of the OG cozy games.
Whether you like decorating houses, creating sims, or playing out fun storylines, there’s something for every type of player. You can even change the entire aesthetic of your game by using shaders or downloading cc.
This is one of my go-to comfort games. It never gets old, especially The Sims 2!
3
Stardew Valley
I mean… does anyone not agree with this? This is the game that started the cozy-game craze. Many games now are just trying to replicate what Stardew already did.
This game pulls you in and keeps you trapped. I’ve spent SO many hours in the world of Stardew, that it almost feels like another life I’ve actually lived.
It’s so iconic at this point that they even have a Stardew concert tour.
The pixel graphics are absolutely stunning, the story is enchanting, and decorating my little farm is always fun.
4
Ooblets
SO UNDERRATED! Why don’t people talk more about this game? It’s cute, cozy, and clever.
The dialogue is brilliantly written and genuinely hilarious, and the turn-based dance battle aspect isn’t as annoying as I thought it would be.
It’s a perfect cozy game.
5
My Time at Sandrock
I don’t feel like Sandrock gets enough hype. Whenever I load up this game, I end up completely immersed in the world and the crafting. Time flies by.
I really love the design of the characters and the unique storyline. I hope they continue to improve this game and maybe even develop another one!
6
House Flipper
A couple of years ago, I would play House Flipper and listen to podcasts. It was such a great way to unwind when I was stressed.
Completing all the various tasks of cleaning and renovating a house and then having a finished “product” feels really good to my brain.
It has all the elements of a perfect cozy game, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, I haven’t enjoyed House Flipper 2 nearly as much as the first one, and I’m not sure why. I can’t put my finger on it.
7
Sticky Business
I’ve always been a huge fan of business simulation games, and this has got to be one of the coziest and most aesthetic.
I especially love the game’s color palette, creating stickers, and just pretending to own a little business. It’s so fun!
8
Rollercoaster Tycoon
I did say of all time, didn’t I? It may not be exactly like the cozy games we think of now, but to me, it 100% fits into the category.
I played this game nonstop as a kid. It was so fun to sit there, build rides & stalls, and watch what all my theme park visitors were doing. The retro graphics and audio are pure perfection, and now, total nostalgia.
I loved putting in a balloon stand and seeing my park fill up with customers holding balloons. 😂
You may be surprised that Animal Crossing isn’t on my list, but to be very honest, it was never a favorite of mine. I didn’t like the real-lifetime aspect. As someone who can’t play every single day, It made it less enjoyable and hard to get into.
